This installation art is a well-known music score: Home! Sweet Home.

As a volunteer at Kaohsiung First Community University, I worked with children from dysfunctional families, collaborating with teachers and social workers to support them. Our art team adopted a non-guided approach, encouraging the children to actively participate in creative activities.

This picture I created is a record of my time in my third year of college, working alongside Teacher Jin Yu at Kaohsiung Community University as part of an art companionship project. Even now, when I look at this picture, I can still feel the warmth and fulfillment I experienced back then. I’ve come to realize that my creative process involves first consciously experiencing life in order to create what I truly love. Only by understanding life can I truly appreciate and express art.
By the end of our companionship project, Professor Chang and our team organized an exhibition at Kaohsiung SinPinPier – Absolutely Art Space, showcasing not only the children’s artwork but also our own response pieces. This experience allowed me to reflect on my role, process my observations, and recognize the countertransference that occurred in the classroom.
Moreover, it reinforced my belief that my passion for art is deeply intertwined with psychology, leading me to reconsider my path in design.

When audiences stand in front of this work and try to hum, they will immediately know what the song is. Singing this song, they will recall memories of home. Whether the memories are happy or sad, they are unique. When working with children from dysfunctional families this process helps me to rearrange my own thoughts on home.
About The Exhibiton
The “Artistic Companionship Project” by Agape No.1 Art Base held the exhibition "Weaving Circles ~ A Tailwind Exhibition by Youth Against the Wind" from Wednesday, August 14 to Sunday, September 1 at the Xinbin Wharf Art Space.
A tea reception and panel discussion took place at 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 17, with the theme "Social Practice of Contemporary Art". Community college partners were warmly invited to attend.
The exhibition showcased artworks that emerged from the “Artistic Companionship Project for Youth Against the Wind.” The exhibitors included both companions and those being accompanied. Within this mutual and intersubjective relationship, they inspired each other and sparked growth in one another’s lives.
For the companions, the act of accompanying helped them reflect on themselves; for the youth, engaging with art opened up new ways of seeing the world.
Note: "Agape No.1 Art Base" was a former factory space lent by Agape Musical Instruments Company to the First Community College. In the autumn of 2013, woodworking classes (beginner/advanced) by Teacher Wang Bingwen and pottery classes by Teachers Ke Yanmei and Wang Zongxian were held there. Many teachers and students also participated in the “Artistic Companionship Project” for the youth of the Dawn Residential Center.
