Originally, the casing was a blue box with sharp corners. From a design perspective, I suggested changing it to white for a more minimalist look. The benefit of this clean aesthetic was to ensure that the product would blend seamlessly into various interior styles without feeling out of place. The less noticeable the device is when installed at home, the more successful the design. We initially wanted to make it round, but due to the layout of the circuitry and the fan, we ultimately decided on a rounded-square shape.

Most gases and airborne particles that are harmful to the human body cannot be seen or smelled, which means we may be unknowingly exposed to danger. That’s why we developed a product designed to raise awareness of environmental changes—especially regarding gases—through a mobile app and web platform, helping to protect both personal safety and property.

The system includes both indoor and outdoor monitoring stations, each equipped with various sensors (to detect CO, CO₂, LPG, PM, temperature, humidity, etc.). Using the latest LPWAN communication technology, the data is transmitted in real-time to the cloud, users’ phones, or websites, allowing the information to be displayed clearly and comprehensively. If gas concentrations exceed safe levels, the system can even activate automatic actuators (e.g., exhaust windows) based on sensor readings, effectively reducing harmful gas levels and achieving the goal of safeguarding lives and property.

Imagine this: you're boiling water at home but fall asleep from exhaustion. The water boils over and extinguishes the gas flame, causing unburned gas to leak into the air. The sensor detects this anomaly and immediately sends data to the actuator, which activates the exhaust system. At the same time, your phone receives an alert, waking you up in time to turn off the gas—crisis averted.

Web Mid-fi Wireframe

This is a set of branded stickers and a stamp that I created using the on-site printer and laser engraving machine at the hackathon.

I was the only designer working alongside a diverse group of engineers and developers, and we only had 2 days to build a working product concept and present it to a panel of judges.

Early in the process, we faced some challenges— the software and hardware teams had different ideas about how the product should function. I stepped in to bridge the gap. I created wireframes and quick sketches to make the technical ideas more visible and easier to understand. That helped align the team—we could see where the misunderstandings were and how to move forward.

I was amazed by what my teammates could do. They brought in skills I had no idea about, and that made me want to contribute even more. We ended up winning first prize, which felt really rewarding—but what stayed with me the most was how fast a group of strangers could become a strong team, when we listened to each other and built something together.

That experience reminded me that good collaboration isn’t just about dividing tasks—it’s about building trust, listening to each other, and creating something together that none of us could’ve done alone.Write your text here...
